The legendary battle route of the Continuation War.

Rukajärvi Road (in Finnish Rukajärventie) is a battle route from the Continuation War that stretches from the Lieksa railway station to Kivivaara and played a significant role in Finland’s logistics during the Continuation War. For those interested in military history, the road is an indescribable destination, and its surroundings have been adapted for tourism. The road is the final battleground of the war between Finland and the Soviet Union, and the history of the 20,000 soldiers who served there is just a short visit away.

Stories of the war road as exhibitions

The total length of the Rukajärvi Road to Rukajärvi on the Russian side is 230 km, of which 44 km is on the Lieksa side. Several information signs have been erected along the road, and Jukolan Motti, located along the route, served as a supply and training center during the war. The center now features a barbecue hut open to the public and a photo exhibition. A separate photo exhibition on the Rukajärvi Road is on display at Nurmijärven Seurala in Jongunjoki.
