Pieni Ritojärvi is a delightful day-trip destination, with the 5.2-kilometer Ritojärvi Loop being its highlight. The trail brings together the area’s most beautiful views along a single route. The loop trail guides hikers through marshes and forested esker landscapes around the lake. You can enjoy a short break and a snack at the Pieni Ritojärvi lean-to. The Kontiovaara Scenic Road leading to the area is a small wilderness experience in itself, and the area offers a chance to rest your body and mind, even for a whole day.
Traces of history along the wilderness.
The Ritosärkkä area holds memories of wartime events. The old road running across the sandbar and the cart sheds along it are reminders of travel in days gone by. The pits visible in the terrain from the trail are storage pits dating back to the time of the old Varasoja waterway.
