Wilderness hiking in rugged forests, surrounded by the pulse of the marshes.

Patvinsuo National Park, an internationally significant conservation and research area for marshland nature, is an idyllic hiking destination nestled in the heart of the wilderness. It’s easy to plan a self-guided day or two of hiking along the waterways, which are framed by old-growth forests and beautiful sandy beaches. There are approximately 80 km of marked trails, most of which are easy to navigate. It is easy to extend your trip to the Karjalan Kierros hiking route. Patvinsuo National Park is suitable for the whole family.

Rest you mind while observing nature.

Amid the clear waters and quintessential Finnish landscapes, you’ll have the perfect opportunity to observe wildlife. The park’s iconic animal, the bear, avoids humans and is rarely seen, but beaver dams and lodges are a common sight along the streams. The park’s birdlife is diverse: swans, cranes, geese, and numerous marsh, waterfowl, and birds of prey can be observed from the Teretinniemi bird tower and the Surkansuo bird platform. The national park’s visitor center is the Suomun Nature House, which is open from May to September.
